Chairman's Report Annual General Meeting 25 th November 2009 This year, our initiative word was "consolidation", it was to be a year of reinforcing the ideals from previous years, Community engagement, Social conscious and Promotion of our area. We recruited two new auxiliary positions, web-master and newsletter editor, and both have been very successful and well received by the public and community in general. My measure of success for this is the number of enquiries that we now receive, every week there is two or more contacts either by phone or through the web site by various individuals or organizations wanting our assistance on a very diverse range of subjects, we have had questions about tourism, market research, community programmes, our on-going projects, even people wanting a lifestyle change have rung for a chat. My thanks and our thanks go to both Bernard and Nicole for their terrific work and diligence in getting these vital support units up and running successfully. We have continued our membership on the "Volunteer Baw Baw" and "Town and Rural Communities committee" and played a leading role in getting the shires "Community Connect Programme" completed for the Rokeby/Crossover community. These networks have been crucial in elevating our profile and making others aware of what we achieve and our future goals for the group and community. We finalised the "Green Corp project" and the follow up comments from individuals, groups and businesses that were involved told us that it a resounding success. After many years of commitment to the "Central Highlands Trail-bike Initiative" we were rewarded with the opening of the La-Trobe motor-bike unloading area, this is the first of many that are planned for the area and we can feel very pleased and re-assured that all those meetings, debates, planning sessions and hard work has been well worth it. There has been lot of progress on the up-grading of the walking track, with gates, cabalettas' and a new track for motorised vehicles being installed. Parks Vic. have also undertaken extensive works around the bridge in readiness for the when the bridge is restored. On the financial front, we have had success in obtaining the money needed for the next stage of the bridge project, that is the engineers study and report and we also received a grant to do the interpretative signage for the track and bridge project. My thanks, our thanks, must go to our project partners, D.S.E., Parks Vict. the Baw Baw Shire and heritage vict. for their on-going support and commitment to making our community and the area we live in a place we can be proud to call home.
