Notes 10th June 2009 Minutes previous meeting were taken as read and passed. Matters arising from minutes were passed over to general business. Treasurers report: The group received funding grants from Heritage Victoria; $16,450 Baw Baw shire $10,000 It was passed that we invest $25,000 in a short term deposit (4 months) and review our needs at the end of that period. Rob/Mapo. It was passed that the necessary heritage signs should be ordered and put up as soon as possible. The cost of these signs will be $1272.80. David/Mapo GENERAL BUSINESS 1) ROKEBY/CROSSOVER PARK: A) Craig reported that the new gates were now installed and that keys would be distributed to three local people (Jean White, David Mapleson, and the group chairperson would also hold a key). B) Craig also reported the cavaletti's would be installed at the Rokeby end of the track in the near future. He will be liasing with Mapo and the "horse fraternity" to arrange a suitable date for the installation. C) The shire signs showing distances to and from Neerim South will be erected either on the day or prior to the day. D) Parks Vict. will also be looking into what they can do at the bridge end of the track to inhibit the traffic flow along "Judy Aumanns" fence-line. E) The "Interperative Signage" will be arranged by both Craig and Bernard and installed at a later date. F) There was discussion about holding a public open day. G) A date will be set to officially recognise the Heritage Victoria contribution to this project. (part of funding requirements). As the shire own the bridge it will be up to them to set the date. 2) BUSHFIRE UPDATE: Paul gave a detailed update, and in essence it meant that Bunyip Park would be closed to allow for revegetation and opened up again in early November, providing all went well with what has to be done. 3) LA-TROBE RIVER RD MOTORBIKE VISITOR AREA: Paul reported that toilets, information boards, tables and seats had all been finished recently and an official opening would happen sometime in July. There will also be a brochure printed up for general distribution. The D.S.E. is now trying to get a local motor bike club to take over guardianship of this project so that our commitment can be minimised and eventually cease. The group will continue to be represented on the Central Highlands Trailbike Committee until the D.S.E. winds it up. Paul passed on his appreciation to all those that have been involved over the years. 4) HAWTHORN BRIDGE: Paul gave us the excellent news that the bridge is back on top of the list for the central area, this has happened through the constant lobbying from many groups like ours and the emergency services. Because previous reports are now outdated the engineering reports will again be done and the bridge should be underway by the end of 2010 all being well. 5) NEWSLETTER: Nicki will be looking for articles to be put into the next public newsletter. Any-one that wants to contribute an article can contact either Nicki, Bernard or David. NEXT MEETING: Wednesday 9th September |
