GENERAL BUSINESS: 1) Parks Submission: The group has heard back from Parks Victoria. Parks has rejected our application for a grant to go towards the walking track component of the bridge project. The issue was discussed at length and it was decided that David would write to Parks asking for clarification as to why they would not put some funds into the project. 2) Bendigo Bank submission: A funding application has been forwarded to the bank for bits and pieces that we require for the Green Corp component of the project. We should hear whether we are successful or not by the middle of November. 3) Green Corp Application: Our application for the G.C. project has been finalised and passed onto the R.T.O. (registered training organization) for their perusal, it then goes onto D.E.W.R. for their assessment and, if they approve, we can go ahead. Our partner R.T.O. is confident that we have done enough to get this funding. We should hear back by middle of November about this application. 4) Shire Community Grant: Our application is in for consideration. Unofficially I have heard we will not get the grant, however, council feels the project is to important to ignore and will put funding in when required as we progress, rather than give us a lump sum as a community grant. An official response will not be known until middle of October. 5) Rokeby Pump Station Submission: Our submission was forwarded to the Shire for their perusal when considering the demolition permit for the pump station. The shires decision should be known by next meeting. 6) Prospectors club: David attended a club meeting and gave a presentation on our groups involvement in the community and current projects. It was well received and we will attempt to do this twice a year to update the club. 7) Group presentations: Just a reminder that if there are any groups that would like an executive member to attend their meetings and give a presentation, let David know and it will be arranged. 8) History and Mystery Tours: Question from the floor as to when these will be organised?? Yes, they are still on the agenda and David will be in contact with Keith to get an update. 9) D.S.E. REPORT: A) It is proposed to do a "controlled burn" in the eastern end of "Crossover Park" sometime in the first half of next year (2008). We will be kept informed on when this will occur. B) Gunns road is to be graded shortly to keep it up to a good standard. C) Hawthorn Bridge: Gone quiet, but not forgotten. David is to contact the D.S.E. and get a more substantial update for next meeting. 10) Question from the floor in regards to the D.S.E. policy of gouging huge holes in tracks to stop motorised vehicles?? Paul explained that these are often very necessary and that they are put in where other methods have not been successful, however if anyone has found a problem with the placement of these holes, please contact Paul and let him know of your concerns. 11) Vision Radio: Situated in Warragul, Vision Radio is inviting community groups to do a ten minute presentation (couch chat format) to promote their group and let their listeners in on what is happening in the community. David will follow this up and come back to next meeting with full report. For more information on meetings click on this link. |
